Wheelcolliders and attaching multiple objects

So I'm fiddling with replicating a very specific vehicle setup, At current, I'm using the same basic setup as the car vehicle in the standard assets package, which applies suspension to each wheel. What I'm attempting to do is leave the front suspension as is, but convert the rear wheels to being attached to an axle which is part of a armature linked to the main vehicle body by a hinge. With the wheel colliders moving with the axle, with the arm having suspension to the vehicle body, rather than the wheels. Below is a basic image of which I'm looking to achieve. ![alt text][1] I've sort of achieved this by attaching a hinge joint to the arm which links it to the body, and has spring value to work somewhat as needed, but the axle and arm move independently of the wheels unless i move the wheel collider elements to being children of the axel, this seems to work, but the wheel colliders then no longer provide collision to make the vehicle move.
